Rememberance Sunday – Important Notice – Cubs & Scouts

This year the parade will be leaving from the Claremont Pair at 10:15 am, so please leave plenty of time to get parked before then.

Full clean & SMART uniform and shoes are required. If the weather is cold or wet, a dark waterproof coat or jacket is permitted. It is strongly advisable to wear something under your Scout shirt such as a t-shirt and a jumper- but can you please ensure that if it has a pattern on it you wear it inside out. It is surprising how much can be seen through the shirt. Can you also please ensure it is not visible outside the shirt, e.g longer than the sleeves or protruding round the neck.

Will all scouts please wear a poppy, and if anybody has the white Remembrance necker this can be worn.

Although it has not been confirmed I expect we will parade back to the Claremont Pier after the service and dismiss from there.

In Carlton Colville Cemetery (opposite Carlton Court) there is a memorial to the Scouts who lost their lives in a tragic sailing accident in 1914. They were members of the 1st Carlton (St Marks) Scout Group a forerunner of our own. We will be meeting there at 9:20am on Remembrance Sunday morning for our own short act of Remembrance and wreath laying. You are all welcome to join us.

If you would like to join the Remembrance Day Service you can join us at the Cenotaph on Royal Green just prior to the service.  Due to the shortage of Cub Scout Leaders your parents will need to bring you and stay during the service in order for you to go back directly to them after the service.  We do not know where we will be positioned in the Parade Square until we get there so if the parents will please congregate together and then bring the cubs to us as soon as we are forming up.  It would be unseemly to do so after the service has commenced.

Please wear warm clothing and a dark waterproof coat or jacket is permitted.  Can you please wear your poppy where it can be seen.

If you feel the weather is not suitable please do not come – this only applies to cubs.  All other leaders and scouts are expected to attend whatever the weather. and dress appropriately.

If you have any questions please get in contact via the ‘Contact Us’ page, or speak to any of us on Friday.
